Hello, I installed SQL 2022, but I got the error that I received database engine service, but I could not solve the problem and I could not find the solution to the problem anywhere. WhatsApp Image 2023-06-04 at 15.37.10

There are better way to send screen shots than taking photos. For instance the Snipping Tool in Windows can help you.

Do you see that link at the bottom of the Setup screen? That takes you to a file that gives you a summary of the installation. In the same folder as that file, there are lots of files from the installation. The files of most interest is summary.txt (the file which the link goes to) and detail.txt. You can attach them here if you like.

I pointed out that taking a photo is an awkard and inefficient way to convey information.

I also informed you how to find the the log files to find more information about the error. SQL Servre Setup is a complex operation, and we can tell from the summary screen alone what the root cause might be. I can see thta you get an "Access is denied" error from the error code, but we don't know where this happened.

Troubleshooting SQL Server setup by shooting in the dark is a frustrating operation. No one told you to disable Windows Firewall. Yes, there is a warning for it in Setup, but it is only a warning, and as far as Setup is concerned, it should be ignored. (It may matter later on, if you are going to connect to SQL Server instance from another computer.)

What you need to do is to look at the log files. As detail.txt is very verbose, you may feel a bit lost there. Feel free to attach it here.

Yes, it is frightenly verbose. You can search for exception, and you will sooner or later come to a .NET stack dump. But don't feel stupid, if the penny does not drop. As I said, feel free to attach the file here.

It was only a warning regarding Firewall, not an error; you can ignore it.

I try the path on the site you mentioned, but there is no error file after the log file." There are such files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\160\Setup Bootstrap\Log\20230523_160542.

No one mentioned (as much as I can see) an error file!

The errors information are in the log(s) files as explained in the link which multiple people already gave you.

And again... we cannot read minds or watch the information in the files if you do not provide it 😕

In the top post, I thought that I should reach the summary.txt or detail.txt file and find out where the error originated, but I could not find anything related to the error information in the log(s) file.

So that is why we are suggesting you to upload these files. And, no, they are not easy to digest. I'm looking at these sort of log files several times a week, as people have problems with installing SQL Server. Sometimes we are able to help, sometimes we are just as clueless as the person asking. But if you don't upload your files, we are certainly not able to help you.

In C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\160\Setup Bootstrap\Log, you have one folder per installation attempt. There should be a summary.txt and detail.txt in each of these folders (or one of its subfolder). As well as quite a few more files, but these two are the most interesting.

I found two exceptions, but none of them stand out directly. First there is:

I'm using a mac, but I installed windows in a virtual computer called UTM and downloaded the SQL. But I don't use any protection software and I disabled the firewall.

Sorry for not coming back earlier, but I have been travelling.

I reached out to my MVP colleagues to hear if someone had been able to install SQL Server on UTM. One replied that he in fact succeeded to install SQL 2019 on an M1 machine, and he had written a blog post about it (he did not share the link). However, it was horribly slow and he does not recommend it.

You may want to explore SQL Edge, which does run an ARM.
