How to sync project to another computer?

I want to transfer my entire project in Visual Studio 2019 from one laptop to another computer. I have copied the project folder to the destination but am not sure if that is the correct way. The sql server is missing as well and I can't open the designer.

Please ensure that the same workloads and components are installed on both machines.

If your project requires SQL Server, you can install the SQL Server separately.

Besides, please check if it needs to install necessary extensions for the project.

Can you please advise how to ensure that same workloads and components are similar?

Also, for the extensions and references I installed for the project?

Can we use VS2022 for a VS2019 project by the way? Installed both on the destination.

Hello, you can use the .vsconfig file to configure your Visual Studio and install missing workloads or components.

For more details, please refer to: Import or export installation configurations.

To check the installed extensions, you can go to Extensions > Manage Extensions > Installed.

For references, you can right-click on your project > click ‘Manage NuGet Packages…’ > Installed.

Besides, Visual Studio is backwards-compatible. You can back up your project and try to directly open it in VS2022. If there is not any errors or warnings, I suppose you can use the VS2019 project in VS2022.

Hi. Managed to work on VS2019.

On VS2022 getting below:

Also, tried to find "Microsoft\VisualStudio\v17.0\SSDT\Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.Sql.UnitTesting.targets" in the fallback search path(s) for $(MSBuildExtensionsPath32) - "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild" . These search paths are defined in "..\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\17.0_e0415a35\devenv.exe.config". Confirm that the path in the <Import> declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk in one of the search paths. source\repos\Jewellery\JewelleryTest\JewelleryTest.csproj

It seems that the project is currently incompatible with your Visual Studio 2022.

Please backup your project and check if the “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\Community\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v17.0\SSDT\Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.Sql.UnitTesting.targets” file exists.

Meanwhile, open your project file and check if targets file can be found in <Import Project> node.

You can try to install “SQL Server Data Tools” component with Visual Studio Installer > Modify. Then, re-open the project in VS2022.

Or you can continue to use the project in VS2019.
