I have an issue with Microsoft Visio occasionally. When drawing and use either "ctrl S" to save or closing the document and clicking "save", it comes up with an error "DOS Sharing violation" Please see attached screen shot.

Sometimes it will say "read only save using a different name". Other times it wont allow me, so I loose everything I have just drawn.

Thanks Greg D Violation.pdf

    Hi @Greg Dobbie,

To troubleshoot this issue, follow the steps below:

    1. Close all programs that are currently using the file.
    2. Restart your computer and open Visio again.
    3. Check if there are any updates available for Visio and install them if necessary.
    4. If the problem persists, try saving the file with a different name or in a different location on your computer.
    5. Check your disk for errors using Check Disk tool in Microsoft Windows. See Method 7: Detect and repair errors on the hard disk on this page (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot/visio/troubleshoot-damaged-drawings#methods-to-try-if-you-can-open-the-drawing) for more information on how to use this tool.
