How to activate Azure Synapse Link Delta Lake

hi Azure community. I'm trying to activate the Dataverse-SynapseLink with spark using these instructions: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/data-platform/azure-synapse-link-delta-lake#how-delta-lake-works-with-synapse-link-for-dataverse but keep getting stuck after selecting the tables to sync. a Normal sync without specifying the spark pool works OK. any ideas?
Looking at the Console I noticed that following request fails in the background: https://graph.windows.net/myorganization/servicePrincipalsByAppId/546068c3-99b1-4890-8e93-c8aeadcfe56a/objectId?api-version=1.6
That seems to be looking for an Enterprise App registration that does not exist. some research points me to Common Data Service - Azure Data Lake Storage

Since you have confirmed that the issue arises only when you try to sync using Spark pool, but not with normal sync, I suspect the issue could be related to Synapse spark pool configuration.
