How to fix table in word

I'm creating a table in word, and it added in a line going down, bordering two columns, which means the header to my table doesn't span the amount of columns it needs to. It won't let me get rid of this, and with it, the table doesn't work. No matter what i do, it wont go away, how do i get rid of it
