Windows10 Image creation with MDT

Hi,

I'm trying to create a Window10 Image, I recently found that 'C:\Drivers' folder gets created and its hidden. The image size was different and that's how I noticed it, it is around 4.7GB. I have configured MDT on Windows2012R2 server and am creating Win10 Images, on investigating I found that it gets created during the 'Add mass storage drivers to sysprep.inf for XP and 2003' step in the Task sequence. Is this step required ? coz it says for XP and 2003. Never seen this folder earlier and no changes were made to MDT. what could be the implications if this task is disabled ?

    Problem/Symptom:

When trying to create a Window10 Image, 'C:\Drivers' folder gets created and it's hidden.

    Solution/Workaround:

The 'C:\Drivers' folder creation has stopped now automatically, not sure if this is something to do with any patches. Anyways, the issue got resolved by itself.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

Per my experience, yes, we can safely disable the 'Add mass storage drivers to sysprep.inf for XP and 2003' step in the Task sequence when creating a Window10 Image. If we need to add mass storage drivers in the latest version, we can click deployment share and look at properties as shown below:

    mass storage driver

Refer to: Add Drivers To MDT (All Versions) Total Control Method

Note: This is non-Microsoft link, just for your reference.

Thanks for your time. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Simon
