Is there a registry key or policy action to lock the home button action and prevent it from being switched from a custom URL to "New Tab Page"

Hi all,

Hopefully an easy one, but I'm having surprising difficulty trying to find a concrete answer or setting to lock this down.

Basically, within Edge throughout our business, we have policy set to enable the home button on the toolbar, and another to set the behaviour so that when clicked it opens a custom URL to our corporate intranet.

However, if a user is to go into their settings -> Start, home and new tabs -> home button | they are able to change the behaviour of the button so that it just opens the new tab page, which we have set to be blank.

What I'd like to know is if there's a policy, or better yet a registry key, which we can set so that this setting cannot be changed at all?

Thanks!

    Hi @Osadczuk Connor,

Based on your description, it seems that you have configured the URL of homepage via group policy. But as far as I know, there is no such policy to directly disable this option, but in this case, if you want to limit the behavior of the new tab page, you can try to set these two policies: HomepageIsNewTabPage and NewTabPageLocation.

    Group Policy (ADMX) info

    • GP path: Administrative Templates/Microsoft Edge/Startup, home page and new tab page

You can define the behavior of the new tab page via these policies. Please check if this works for you.

    Best regards,
