Is Windows Reset data deletion a simple data deletion or does it use a specific algorithm?

When using the Windows Reset function to reset a windows laptop, the data also gets deleted. Does this data deletion use a specific deletion algorithm like DoD, Peter Gutman etc or does it use the normal windows deletion process?

I am concerned because specific deletion algorithms can degrade SSDs. In case of a normal deletion in windows, I suppose for SSD it will be the TRIM command.

    Hello there,

Reset is just data deletion and gives fresh OS installation from the cloud or drive. In theory, when doing a “reset this PC” in Windows it will securely erase all your files.

Resetting reinstalls Windows , but lets you choose whether to keep your files or remove them and then reinstalls Windows. You can reset your PC from Settings, the sign-in screen, or by using a recovery drive or installation media.

Hope this resolves your Query !!
