SCCM client not downloading from Distribution Point

We have Win10 1809 LTSB machines that are discovering valid URLs for software updates on the SCCM Distribution Point:
User's image

But trying to download them from an invalid WSUS URL over port 8530 instead of calling the DP URL:User's image

All other machines in the domain are successfully downloading updates from the DP. Uninstalling and re-installing the CCM client does not resolve the issue.

Would welcome any suggestions to explain or fix this behaviour.

Thanks!

    Hi @PaulG ,

This was resolved by setting 'Allow clients to download delta content when the option is available' to 'No' in the Client Settings.

    Hello PaulLG,

The SCCM client & the Windows Update agent synchronize with the SUP then check the software updates compliance to report to the console which updates are installed/required etc.

The DP is used only to download the content.

If your SUP is fine and the software updates deployment is OK for other OS, I would suggest to you to start your troubleshooting from the client side with checking the following log files:

    • WUAHandler.log
    • UpdatesHandler.log
    • UpdatesStore.log
    • CAS.log
    • UpdatesDeployment.log

    Thanks for the suggestions Youssef.

I agree that the issue is most likely at the client side, however I cannot see anything in the client logs other than the DP content location being discovered in CAS.log as shown in my first post. The CCM client logs have no mention of WSUS content locations for the updates.

I only know that these clients are requesting content from WSUS from performing a network trace. The clients make no attempt to download from the DP.

It would appear that something is overriding the content location as discovered in CAS.log

    Thanks,

    Paul

In LocationServices.log, is the client getting the SUP entry correctly with 8530 port? What is the status of your ConfigMgr components under Monitoring node (console)?

Are you able to deploy an application in this machine? Just to confirm that your DP is OK and it's only about software updates depl.
