VM from hyper-vmanager pulls up host machine?

Hello,

I've got one I've never seen before. When I open up the virtual guest machine in hyper-v manager on the host, I get a login to the host machine. It has the host machine desktop, total storage etc.

I disabled the nic in hyper-v manager but that didn't change anything. Any suggestions?

    Hello Boe,

Thank you for your question and for reaching out with your question today.

When you encounter a situation where opening a virtual guest machine in Hyper-V Manager displays the login screen of the host machine instead of the guest machine, it typically indicates an issue with the Virtual Machine Connection settings. Here are a few suggestions to help resolve this:

    1. Check the virtual machine's settings: Open Hyper-V Manager, right-click on the virtual machine, and select "Settings." Ensure that the correct virtual hard drive is attached to the virtual machine, and the boot order is configured correctly.
    2. Verify integration services: Ensure that the integration services are installed and up to date on the guest machine. Integration services provide enhanced functionality and drivers for the virtual machine, allowing it to communicate properly with the host.
    3. Adjust BIOS settings: On the host machine, access the BIOS settings and check if the virtualization features, such as Intel VT-x or AMD-V, are enabled. Enabling these features ensures proper virtualization support.
    4. Update Hyper-V: Make sure that you have the latest updates installed for Hyper-V. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve compatibility issues.
    5. Restart the host machine: Sometimes, a simple restart of the host machine can help resolve temporary issues with Hyper-V and restore normal functionality.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, you may need to provide more specific details about your configuration, such as the version of Hyper-V, the guest operating system, and any recent changes or updates that may have been made. This information can help in diagnosing the issue more accurately and providing further assistance.

Thanks - I'll be honest I started from scratch - didn't get a chance to trouble shoot as I needed it up right away. I'm pretty sure I had checked everything that needed to be checked before I did though as the other VMs worked fine.
