I've upgraded two Postgres flexible servers. One of them was upgraded to version 15.2 and the other one to 15.1.

I see the latest currently release version is version 15.3.

Why do my Postgres instances have two different versions? And is Azure going to provide an upgrade also for 15.3? WIll it be upgraded automatically or will I be able to do this manually?

    Hi Ladislav Gallay •,

Thanks for posting this question on Microsoft Q&A forum.

As I understand, you have tried to Upgrade Azure Databases for PostgreSQL Flexible Servers upon which one is upgraded to 15.1 and another is upgraded to 15.2.

The PostgreSQL project regularly issues minor releases to fix reported bugs. Azure Database for PostgreSQL automatically patches servers with minor releases during the service's monthly deployments.

This means 15.3(minor version upgrade) would be done in upcoming deployments as per the above statement.

    Note:

Automation for major version upgrade isn't yet supported. For example, there's currently no automatic upgrade from PostgreSQL 11 to PostgreSQL 12.

PostgreSQL version 15 is now available in public preview in limited regions (West Europe, East US, West US2, South East Asia, UK South, North Europe, Japan east). The current minor release is 15.2.Refer to the PostgreSQL documentation to learn more about improvements and fixes in this release. New servers will be created with this minor version.

As 15 is in preview, gradually with time minor versions will be upgraded.

Keep visiting page: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/postgresql/flexible-server/concepts-supported-versions for latest updates.

    Hope this helps.
