Hello I'm using your free account. I was playing around with Azure functions. I created new function, and it kept telling me that "This function has been edited through an external editor. Portal editing is disabled".'
This is a newly created Azure function ... and it is not letting me create any functions. :(
I went through multiple blogs and tried different options. Even created a new Azure function in a different region still the same message. Also, tried using a different browser, laptop ... nothing worked.
This looks to be some sort of configuration issue. Please can anyone help to figure this out. I need to use the portal to make changes in the Azure function. BTW ... I would be using python code.
What changes are to be made so that I can use the portal for editing ?
@Ananda Kumar Dey Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A, apologize for any inconvenience caused on this.
As mentioned in this documentation, here if you function app is running on consumption-based Linux plan then editing from portal is not supported.
and also, Portal editing is enabled only for HTTP and Timer triggers for Functions on Linux using Premium and Dedicated plans for C# Script or Java Script (Node.js) languages. For more details, please refer to the portal editing section in deployment technology document.

Thanks Venkatesh. I understand that I can publish using any external editors only but I created the same type of function in python in a different subscription (consumption based) where I didn't had any issues of editing the function in web. Though I got a message to use local environment but it didn't restrict me to edit on the web.
I was able to create a same type function in a different subscription and I can use web. I was also able to edit it as well.

Hello, I am having same issue where when I deploy HTTPTrigger function to a functionapp via Azure CLI. I was having same issue with deploying Httptrigger via VS Code hence tried creating Function App as well as HTTPTrigger function via Azure CLI but this issue still persists. Please suggest a way around this issue. FYI I have a student subscription. Please let me know if any additional info is needed. TA!

Frankly this is very disappointing. GCP and AWS allow you to edit GCFs/lambdas right there in the browser without upgraded licenses....
