I have questions regarding SQL Server developer.

  1. Is the developer licensing suitable for internal use (not production)? I could not find the latest updated information.
  2. Is the developer licensing suitable for unrestricted performance?

Thanks

    Hi @hunterex

SQL Server Developer Edition is an edition for Developers. It is free, you can use it for development and for educational purposes, Demos, test environments, quality assurance and more. It contains all the SQL Server Enterprise functionality, but it cannot be deployed in production.

For detailed information about the license issue, you can call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. Or you can go to Volume Licensing Service Center support. Please choose region/language and choose to call or have web.

    Best regards,

    Cosmog Hong

    1. If you have install Dev Edition, then you can find the license terms in folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server<build>\License Terms => SQLServer<Version>_License_DEV_1031.rtf
    2. Dev Edition equals the Enterprise Edition without any limitations.
