Hello,

I'm struggeling with the sharepoint list export to excel.

I can export the full list to Excel without any issues.

When I try and export different views, I receive the error when opening excel. "You do not have permission to view the entire list because it is larger than the list view threshold enforced by the admin."

Of course, I know this effects alot of issues because the list view limit and I already checked all countermeasures, but still exists. But why can I export the full list and not a view?

(By the way, I think at the beginning it was possible)

Many Thanks,

Tobias

    Hi @Prause, Tobias ,

It seems this is not a common issue per my test. I can export other sharepoint list view to Excel normally. However, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. So, Please kindly provide more information below to let us work further.

1.Does this happen to other list? You could create a new SharePoint list to check.

2.Try to use a different browser or your browser's InPrivate mode to see if the same error occurs.

3.If there is only a problem with this list, maybe you can export the full list to Excel, and then use the filter conditions of Excel to achieve the effect of other views. Could this be your alternative?

Hope the information can help you. And if there have any unclear or misunderstanding, please feel free to post back and we’ll continue to help you all the time!

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated! Hope you have a good day and keep safe!

    Hi @Prause, Tobias ,

It is possiable to export a different sharepoint list view to Excel.

The root of your issue is that there are too many records in your list and they exceed the list view threshold(5000 items). So “Export to Excel” may work abnormally. You can create index column(s) to set as your filter condition.

About how to create an indexed column, you can refer to this article: Add an index to a SharePoint column

If the filtered view then returns less than 5000 items, retry to export the list to excel and it may normally work this time.

If the error still exists, I suggest you to connect Excel to a SharePoint list data source.

As the office version will affect the implementation steps, you can refer to this article and find specific steps in “Connect to a SharePoint list” section:
Import data from external data sources (Power Query)
