Switching Client from Azure registered to Hybrid-joined

Hi,

Because of tiny little errors during installation some of our clients end up twice in azure ad. Same device, one time azure AD joined, one time Hybrid joined.

This happens usually if the sync between onprem and azure isnt finished when the divice is assigned to the user. Shouldn't happen but well, happens when you do 3 things at the same time ^^

I have yet to find a solution that doesn't involve removing the device from Azure, from on prem, renaming the device and start from scratch. Is there any other way?

I already tried deleting the azure ad joined device and using dsreg to unregister and re-register the device but it doesnt work. using the task scheduler to re-register doesn't help either.

The device always want to sync back to the deleted instance.

How can I pair a device with a device in azure manually?

Thank you for asking this question on the Microsoft Q&A Platform.

    According to this thread

You can follow the steps below:

    1. Remove the computer from the local domain.
    2. Remove the registered computer from Azure.
    3. Remove all accounts under settings->accounts->access work or school.
      1. Remove all GUID keys from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Enrollments (GUID keys look like 18DCFFD4-37D6….)
    4. Join the machine to your Domain

    Hope this helps!
