    Hello Buzymomma,

Thank you for your question and for reaching out with your question today.

If you are unable to enter the BitLocker recovery key after rebooting your Windows 10 computer, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check the keyboard layout: Ensure that the keyboard layout you are using matches the one used when the recovery key was generated. If you're using a different keyboard layout, such as a different language or layout configuration, the key inputs may not be recognized correctly. Try switching to the correct keyboard layout or using an on-screen keyboard if available.
    2. Check for hardware issues: Verify that the keyboard is functioning properly by testing it with another application or connecting an external keyboard to your computer. If the keyboard is not working correctly, you may need to replace it or seek assistance from a technician.
    3. Ensure correct recovery key: Double-check that you are entering the correct recovery key. It's essential to enter each character exactly as it appears, including hyphens. Verify that there are no typos or mistakes in the key.
    4. Try an alternative input method: If you're using a laptop or tablet with a touchscreen, try using the on-screen keyboard to enter the recovery key. This can help determine if the issue lies with the physical keyboard.
    5. USB recovery key: If you have a USB recovery key created during the BitLocker setup, connect the USB drive to your computer and follow the prompts to unlock the drive using the key stored on the USB drive.

What do you mean "not letting me enter the key"? If you cannot type it using the numeric keypad or otherwise, type it by substituting the keys accordingly:

    • F1 - 1
    • F2 - 2
    • F3 - 3
    • ...
    • F9 - 9
    • F10 - 0

Bitlocker asks for the key because probably it's caused by change in the hardware configuration of the TPM module, or by moving the drive to another phisical device.
