Hi,

I am working on patching a Windows Server 2016 Standard endpoint (Build: 14393.5786). On installing a kb we are getting exit code 0x8007002 or WU error -2147024894 ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND.
I'm unable to determine the missing file, but while investigating I noticed the DataStore.edb does not seem to hold the expected information. Looking at a healthy Windows 2016 server, I can see the DataStore.edb populated with the proper information. Could this be the source of the File Not Found error? Admin already recreated the SoftwareDistribution folder and the new edb file is also "empty". On another machine with the same error, when they upgraded to Server 2019 the issue got resolved.

Working Server's DataStore.edb Displaying Windows Update history

On the server in question, I get mostly empty lines:

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

To further troubleshoot this issue, you can try to delete DataStore.edb file.

But before taking this action, please stop the Windows Update service first to avoid any unnecessary impact.

Also, it's always wise to make a copy before deleting any data file.

After deleting the .edb file, you can restart Windows Update service again and check for update.

Hope this answer can help you well.
