Bitlocker problems

This isn't Azure, as far as I know, but didn't see a tag for Bitlocker. My Lenovo laptop goes into the Automatic Repair loop when I start it up, and it can't repair itself. If I try to use the various options, it says it's encrypted by bitlocker and I have to enter a 48-bit recovery key. If I do so, and try an option, when the option fails it restarts. If I want to try another option, I have to enter the recovery key again. And again. And again. For each option I want to try. If I take the ssd out and look at it on another computer, it's not encrypted at all! I can see everything on it. So it's only encrypted when I don't want it to be, but it's unencrypted if someone takes it and reads it! How do I unencrypt it for use on the failing computer, so I can try all the options?

Some places to look listed here. Without the key you'll need to clean install it.

Some things to check here as well.
