SharePoint and PDF Integration with Save-back Functionality

We are currently using SharePoint 2019 to store PDF files and we would like to enable online clicking of PDF files for electronic signature. After the signing process is completed, we want users to be able to click "Save" and have the file saved back to SharePoint for the next user to continue with the signing process.

We have researched and found that it is possible to paste SharePoint links into File Explorer, allowing us to open the folder, edit files, and save them. However, this approach is restricted due to policy limitations and cannot be used.

We are also aware that PDF files can be opened by pasting SharePoint links, but this method is not user-friendly and is also restricted.

Therefore, we would like to inquire if there are alternative methods available. For example, is it possible to click on a PDF file from a browser and have it automatically open on the local machine for editing and saving? Alternatively, are there any third-party solutions that allow online editing and saving functionalities?

    Hi @Lee, Jason J ,

Sorry for the late reply, We couldn't download multiple files on a single click in SharePoint 2019. This is by design.

But as a workaround, you can use IE browser, and then use " Open with Explorer " to batch download files, or download all files of the entire library at once through Powershell.Sharepoint

    Hi @Lee, Jason J ,

Unlike Microsoft Office documents, they are still seeking a solution to open pdf files in the client (Adobe) by default. Very sorry about it. We sincerely recommend you send feedback to SharePoint feedback community, this is the best way to let the developers know your requirement and help improve the products. Thanks for your understanding.

According to your description, we understand you want to have e-signature feature for PDF files in SharePoint 2019.

As far as we know, there is no build-in feature in SharePoint can help to create e-signature for PDF files. Please refer to this user voice:
