How to add an external organization user to Dynamics 365 Sales Professional

I have an environment in which I have installed Dynamics 365 customer engagement. We are using the Sales app as CRM and we would like to add an external user to be able to use the same application in the same environment.
Step followed:
- added an external user to Azure AD
- added the user to a new group
- assigned a dynamics 365 license to the user
assigned dynamics 365 user roles
Still the user is not able to authenticate to Dynamics 365 Sales. The application propmpts the following error: notMemberOfOrg

2023-10-13T14:48:13+00:00 No, unfortunately at the end we had to add the user to an existing group and it worked, even if it was not what we wanted.
