Setting a partition variable in my task sequence creates another partition.

Hi All. Thanks for the assist on my last question. I now have an issue deploying to a desktop with multiple physical hard drives. I've tried to set the Partition Variable in the Format and Partition task, but everytime I add the variable, and click OK, it creates another partition in the list, and none of the partitions have the variable set.

For example: First pic shows my basic partition settings for my UEFI Format and Partition task.

If I go into the Window (Primary) properties and try to type OSDisk into the Variable field, I end up with another partition in the list, per the second pic. (New partition is just called (Primary) )

When I open properties on this new partition, the variable is blank, as is the variable in the original Windows (Primary) partition. Am I missing a step here?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

Have you set the task sequence variable before using it? It appears that you have to pre-set a custom variable then reference that variable name in this task sequence step.
