Need to configure distrubuted cahce in existing SharePoint 2019

I have setup SharePoint 2019 environment with 1 app , 1 wfe and 1 search server during running SharePoint config wizard. but I forgot about distributed cache service and didn't select any such role for any server. so now How can I configured same in any SharePoint server. Please response asap.

Hi @sushma Kumari ,

When you plan to implement the Distributed Cache service, consider that the Distributed Cache service can be deployed in two modes: dedicated mode or collocated mode. In dedicated mode, all services other than the Distributed Cache service are stopped on the application server that runs the Distributed Cache service. In collocated mode, the Distributed Cache service runs together with other services on the application server. Dedicated mode is the recommended mode in which to deploy the Distributed Cache service.

When performing the initial configuration of a SharePoint Server farm, perform the following steps in the following order:

If you choose Dedicated mode, first you need to configure another server to implement the Distributed Cache service
Run the Configuration Wizard to join the new server to the server farm. The Distributed Cache service is started on all web servers and application servers in the server farm.
Perform other farm configuration steps as necessary.

Thanks for your response. But as I mentioned in my question that we have already created farm and didn't select any server with distributed cache role with app or wfe server. And now we want to configure distributed cache in our sharepoint farm in existing app or wfe server so how we should proceed.

But as I mentioned in my question that we have already setup our SharePoint farm with wfe, app and search role and didn't select distrubted cache with any server but now we want to enable cache within existing servers of Sharepoint so how we should proceed.

The Distributed Cache service is started on all SharePoint servers at installation time.

But we didn't select distributed cache role at time of running config wizard so where we can verify where it is started or not and working or not?

Hi @sushma Kumari ,

Verify that the Distributed Cache service is started. To do this, in the SharePoint Central Administration website, click Application Management. In the Service Applications section, click Manage services on server. On the Services on Server page, make sure that the Distributed Cache service is listed, and the status is Started.

It is recommended that you redeploy a new server. When you join a server to an existing farm by using the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard, select Distributed Cache role.

Hello,

Service is not listed in CA, I have already verified because at time of configuration wizard , i didn't select any role of distrusted cache but now I want to implement same in existing WFE. So is it possible now to configure cache in existing SharePoint server without added new dedicated server for distributed cache.

You try to run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard again in the WFE server to see the result.

We have already configured all required services and content migration is in progress with help of ShareGate so I don't have any idea what will impact if we run config wizard again in WFE. and I think second time running config wizard on existing sharepoint server, it will not give option to select role of server.

I tried to run command Add-SPDistributedCacheServiceInstance using link https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/technical-reference/distributed-cache-service-is-not-enabled-in-this-deployment in wfe server after that service is listed in mange services on server.

But it is showing in below image:
