I'm using Windows 11 Pro with my company email account.
When I click "Remove from Favorites" to remove items that are pinned to the left of File Explorer as favorites, recent items, etc., the error window "Unable to access the specified device, path, or file" appears and cannot be removed. The folder is located in C:, and the same error message is printed when I press "Put to Favorites" to register it as a favorite.
We're also using a solution called "DocuOne Cloud," which we use as a cloud folder on external server. If a subfolder in DocuOne is automatically registered to your favorites and I try to remove it, the error window "I can't access that folder. You do not appear to have permission to use resources on this network." appears and can't be removed. I can still access the DocuOne folder and open the file.

  • 6/22 I took action to change the current C drive owner "TrustedInstaller" to "Administrators". But I got an error that cannot press the Start button with mouse and keyboard, and cannot run Microsoft To-Do and when I run the Microsoft Teams the error window "We weren't able to connect" appears.
  • 6/23 I doubt that my organization account doesn't have authority to write C drive. I format the Windows and login with local account, finally I can remove the folders from favorites and quick access. But I have to use organization account because of policy of company. Should I ask to administrator of organization account?

    Hello,

Thank you for your question and for reaching out with your question today.

Based on the information provided, it seems like the issue you are experiencing with removing items from the Favorites section of File Explorer and accessing certain folders is related to permissions and restrictions imposed by your organization's account or policies. Here are some steps you can take to address the problem:

    1. Contact your organization's administrator: Since you mentioned that you need to use your organization account due to company policy, it's advisable to reach out to your organization's administrator or IT support. Inform them about the specific issue you are facing and provide them with any error messages you have encountered. They will have a better understanding of your organization's setup and can help troubleshoot and provide the necessary permissions or configurations.
    2. Verify folder and file permissions: If you are able to access the DocuOne folder and open files within it, but encounter issues when removing or adding it to favorites, it's possible that the permissions for those specific actions are restricted. Your organization's administrator can review the folder and file permissions to ensure that your account has the necessary access rights.
    3. Check group policies: Group policies can be configured to control various aspects of user accounts and system behavior. It's possible that there are specific group policies in place that restrict certain actions within File Explorer, such as modifying the Favorites section. Your organization's administrator can review the group policies and make any necessary adjustments to allow the desired actions.
    4. Use alternative methods: While working with your organization's administrator to resolve the issue, you can try alternative methods to access and manage your files. For example, instead of relying on the Favorites section in File Explorer, you can use the traditional folder structure to navigate and organize your files.
    5. Follow company guidelines: In the meantime, make sure you are following your company's guidelines and policies regarding file management and accessing resources. If there are specific instructions or restrictions in place, adhere to them to ensure compliance and maintain the security of your organization's data.
