I asked this in the marketplace Q&A, https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=SSIS.SqlServerIntegrationServicesProjects&ssr=false#qna so this is redundant. Can something be done to avoid getting the warning in Visual Studio? Thanks

As said at the release notes.
Due to a limitation of VS marketplace, the version 4.4.2 does not introduce new binaries to download. Version 4.4 contains the latest binaries.

If you choose update, it will still promote to download SSIS v4.4.
It is the limitation of VS marketplace, you may also raise the issue to VS.
