Hello Experts,

Hope you all are doing good ! Need one help in one of our windows cluster issue.

We have two node windows failover cluster set up in our environment. This cluster is hosting a mission critical SQL database server. Problem here is, when there is patching or planned maintenance on these servers, SQL is not able to move to one of the node (N1).Apparently, this issue is always compelling us to host SQL in N2 node.

We tried to check cluster logs and it gives lot of details and we are not able to find out the right cause of the issue. Could you pls help us to find more pointers which can help us to find cause ?

As per our team, when we are trying to move SQL to N1 node then it is going to pending state at first and subsequently getting failed (after 5 to 1o seconds). So Kindly help us to give your advises on it. Many thanks in advance !

Regards,

Naren

With that less on informations it's impossible to guess anything.

Run a Cluster Health Check and review Windows EventLog, SQL Server ErrorLog an Cluster Logs for more details or error messages.
