How to customise a ribbon tab to replicate the display of the home tab to improve the aesthetics (i.e. custom ribbon advanced settings)?

I have developed a custom ribbon tab in word that I would like to be essentially the same as the 'home' tab but with specific fonts/styles etc for our systems.

However when I generated the ribbon with the exact same commands as the home tab, the setup looks completely different (see screenshot below). Any ideas on how replicate the display of the home tab into my custom tab? Maybe ideas on how to make expandable menus for things like font and paragraph.

I have seen this be done before (not by me) so know it is somehow possible.

Cheers

First, take a look at Customize the Ribbon - It Doesn't Take Rocket Science by Greg Maxey. To have a Ribbon Customization that is truly portable, you want to do it by XML modification.

To customize the styles shown you can use the [Manage Styles options]. You can also use [Quick] Style Sets.

You can add elements from the default Home Tab by choosing, instead of Commands, go directly to the Ribbon elements.

    Customize Ribbon dialog

Again, though, I urge you to read Greg's page and do your customization in a custom template using XML. It is a bit of effort but well worth it.
