    Check the “Track Active Item in Solution Explorer” option in Options dialog (from TOOLS menu), Projects and Solution, General section.

    There is also the “Sync with Active Document” button in Solution Explorer.

    1. As to "Track Active Item in Solution Explorer" - if I open 2 files then close visual studio and reopen it, It opens with explorer collapsed and I have to select and switch between those 2 files several times till this feature "works", whilst in version 2019 it works right from when I open the visual studio - the explorer opens automatically and shows in it the file I see in the sources window.
    2. As to “Sync with Active Document” button in Solution Explorer - I can't see this button...
