    Hello,

Thank you for your question and for reaching out with your question today.

If you are experiencing issues with audio on your laptop, specifically related to the Realtek devices, and you have already tried updating the drivers from the Dell website, here are some additional steps you can take:

    1. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, Microsoft releases audio-related fixes or driver updates through Windows Update.
    2. Reinstall Audio Drivers: Uninstall the Realtek audio drivers completely from the Device Manager and then reinstall them. Follow these steps: a. Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting "Device Manager" from the menu. b. Expand the "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" section. c. Right-click on the Realtek audio devices and select "Uninstall device." d. Check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device" and click "Uninstall." e. Restart your laptop. f. After the restart, Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers. If it doesn't, you can manually download the latest drivers from the Dell website and install them.
    3. Disable Audio Enhancements: Sometimes, certain audio enhancements or effects can cause conflicts or issues. Disable any audio enhancements applied to the Realtek devices by following these steps: a. Open the Sound settings by right-clicking on the speaker icon in the taskbar and selecting "Open Sound settings." b. Under the "Related settings" section, click on "Sound control panel." c. In the Sound window, select the Realtek audio device and click on the "Properties" button. d. Go to the "Enhancements" tab and check the box that says "Disable all enhancements." e. Click "OK" to save the changes.
    4. Contact Dell Support: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it is recommended to reach out to Dell Support for further assistance. They can provide specialized support for your specific Dell laptop model and help diagnose and resolve the audio issues you are facing.

Remember to provide detailed information about the issue, including the steps you have already taken, when contacting Dell Support.

Having the same exact issue here with 17" dell laptop. This laptop is less than a yr old still under warranty and I don't understand. It installs 2 related and sound stops working, I uninstall both and restart PC. 1 gets installed and everything works fine then couple days later sound stops working again just to see another duplicate realtek. .

So I noticed something interesting. The 2 separate realtek devices had 2 different hardware ID's!!1 was hdaudio (which is realtek)Another was Intel smart audio. I left both devices as is (both as realtek) and decided to use iobit driver booster to update all of the drivers in The system. Well to my surprise, after a restart, the sound started working again and it was only 1 realtek audio device. Time will tell if this was the permanent fix but I have a good feeling about it.
