Question

Today we started to receive the following error 500 ErrorUserResolutionFailed: ProfileException from https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me

It's intermittent and it does not happen for all users.

has anything changed on the outlook graph API side?

could it be related to the following:

Microsoft is deprecating the Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) Graph API after June 30, 2023.

This is not related to the upcoming deprecation of the AAD Graph API, because you are using the MS Graph endpoint instead of the AAD Graph endpoint. The 500 error is an internal server error that can happen for a variety of reasons and we cannot reproduce it locally.

I recommend you to open a support ticket with the Graph support team to confirm the problem, you can raise a support ticket from:

http://aad.portal.azure.com or https://admin.microsoft.com/#/support/requests.

The 500 ErrorUserResolutionFailed: ProfileException you are experiencing is a result of a server error.

This issue could be caused by multiple requests occurring simultaneously, leading to intermittent problems. We haven't come across this error, and we haven't received any reports from other users either.

This query is related to Microsoft Graph API which is not related to deprecation of the Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) Graph API after June 30, 2023.

If you again encounter that error, please share the timestamp and correlation id to troubleshoot this further.
