Prerequisites for missing Windows 10 KB

Hello all, Looking for some pointers to resolve some confusing issues.

We have some old(er) missing KBs on some assets as per our scanning reports. Now, some of the missing KBs refer to specific SSUs as required pre-requisites. Now, the build numbers associated with the SSU do not necessarily apply to the assets for which the KB is reported as missing.

For example:

Lets say Asset A (OS build build 19044) is missing "August 9, 2022—KB5016616 (OS Builds 19042.1889, 19043.1889, and 19044.1889)" - OS builds are from the MS advisory. This advisory refers to "If your devices do not have the May 11, 2021 KB5003173 or later LCU, you must install the special standalone August 10, 2021 SSU (KB5005260) before installing this update." as a pre-requisite. But, KB5003173 and/or KB5005260 do not specifically mention 19044 as an applicable OS build. And Asset A is build 19044.

So, (1) Do we have to install KB5003173 and/or KB5005260 to get KB5016616 on Asset A ? (2) Would they even install on asset A since the build numbers are not matching ? (3) What else can we potentially try since we typically follow monthly patches regularly, and many of our systems are getting updated while still there are more than a handful that seem to not get these patches for some reason.

Thanks in advance.

Updates and SSUs are cumulative so installing the latest is all that is necessary to bring a system up-to-date.
