Hello,

I need some help. We have some laptops that WiFi would work for a week and then randomly disconnect and reconnect themselves. The WiFi has a strong signal. The only way to fix it is to run Netsh Winsock reset but then the problem comes back again. Is it maybe a driver issue that needed to be installed? or any other suggestions. We want to rectify this solution permanently.

Thank you in advance

Use answers to provide solutions to the user's question. There can be numerous reasons behind the Wi-Fi randomly being disconnected.

    • Outdated drivers/firmware that are required to be updated through manufacturer's website.
    • A third-party security software that interferes with firewall/network adapter.
    • Pending/Missing essential Windows Updates/Optional updates.

Those {domain} machines should be evaluated against a fresh Windows machine, which can be connected to a same network without having the same set of software installed.

If you need Microsoft to evaluate your machine(s), you can reach out to Microsoft Support following a link mentioned below.

Hello, You can check the following items to troubleshoot:

    1. Check for updates: Make sure your laptop has the latest BIOS, driver, and operating system updates. These updates can sometimes address issues like this.
    2. Check the router: If other devices connected to the same router are experiencing similar issues, it might be the router itself. Try rebooting the router and see if that resolves the issue.
    3. Check your network settings: Make sure your network settings are correct, including your DNS settings. Sometimes, if these settings are incorrect or out of date, it can cause connection issues.
    4. Use a different network: If possible, try connecting to a different network. This will help you determine if the issue is limited to your current network or if it's more widespread.
    5. Use a different Wi-Fi channel: If you're using a crowded Wi-Fi channel, try changing to a less crowded one to see if that resolves the issue.
    6. Run a malware scan: It's possible that malware or a virus could be causing this issue. Run a full scan using your antivirus software to check for any malicious software.
    7. Check your firewall settings: Your firewall may be blocking the connection. Make sure your firewall is set to allow connections to your Wi-Fi.
