Hello,

The registry value has changed since the Windows update. (KB5027222, KB5027131)
The path and key of the changed registry are as follows.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\CertificateRevocation

I am using a computer on a closed network.

So the change in the registry value affects my Internet usage speed.

I want to know why window patch affects this registry value.

Thank you.

    Hello Window,

Thank you for your question and for reaching out with your question today.

Windows updates, such as KB5027222 and KB5027131, can sometimes include changes to system settings and configurations, including registry values. These updates are designed to address security vulnerabilities, improve performance, and introduce new features or bug fixes.

The specific registry key you mentioned, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\CertificateRevocation, is related to the certificate revocation check process performed by Internet Explorer and other applications that rely on the Windows Internet settings.

Certificate revocation is a security mechanism used to check the validity and revocation status of digital certificates used for secure communication (such as SSL/TLS certificates). By checking the revocation status, applications can ensure that the certificates they encounter haven't been compromised or revoked by their issuing authorities.

When a Windows update modifies the CertificateRevocation registry key, it may be due to changes in the default behavior of certificate revocation checks or updates to the underlying mechanisms used for checking certificate revocation status.

While the specific details of the changes made by these updates aren't readily available without further investigation or release notes from Microsoft, it's important to note that Microsoft regularly updates Windows components, including security features, to enhance system security and improve compatibility with evolving industry standards.

In your case, since you mentioned using a computer on a closed network without internet access, the impact of the changed registry value on your internet usage speed should be negligible or non-existent. The change may have been made to address specific security concerns or provide compatibility improvements for other network scenarios.

If you're experiencing performance issues or slow internet usage speed despite being on a closed network, it's recommended to investigate other potential factors such as network configuration, hardware limitations, or software conflicts.

    Hi LT

Why does Windows not somehow safe the values of the registry, then make the update, change them back as they were and then inform the user with a popup, that there are important security changes, which would improve security? Because interruptions like this cost time and nerves.
