I'm unable to connect to my PC with Remote Desktop when the PC is connected to the internet via VPN

Hi, I have a problem with Remote Desktop connection. I'm able to connect to my PC from my Android phone as long as the PC is not connected to the internet via VPN (I'm using Surfshark). If I try to connect with the PC routing via VPN, an error code 0x104 pops up on my Android device. I don't know what to and it's a real burden, since I'm using VPN all the time.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance, John.

    Hello Jan Maren

The error code 0x104 in Remote Desktop Connection typically indicates a network-related issue.

When your PC has a VPN turned on, it gets a different internet address. This makes it a bit tricky to use Remote Desktop from your Android phone to connect to your PC.

We need to set up Port Forwarding on the router:

    • Go into your home router's settings. Look for something called "Port Forwarding" or "Port Mapping." This is like giving your Android phone directions to your PC.
    • Set up Port Forwarding to send requests on a specific number (usually 3389) to your PC's VPN-assigned IP address.

    Best regards,

    Karlie Weng
