    Hello,

If your operating system is spinning the CD-ROM drive every 15 seconds, there could be a few possible reasons for this behavior. Here are a few things you can check:

AutoPlay or AutoRun: The AutoPlay or AutoRun feature in Windows may be causing the CD-ROM drive to spin periodically. AutoPlay is designed to automatically launch or play media when a disc is inserted. To check if this is the cause, you can disable AutoPlay for the CD-ROM drive. Right-click on the CD-ROM drive in Windows Explorer, select "Properties," go to the "AutoPlay" tab, and choose "Take no action" for the desired media type.

Software or Process: There might be a background process or software installed on your computer that is periodically accessing the CD-ROM drive. This could be related to a media player, disc burning software, or any other application that might interact with optical drives. Check your system tray or task manager for any related processes or applications running in the background. You can try closing or disabling these applications temporarily to see if the spinning behavior stops.

Driver or Firmware Issue: Outdated or incompatible drivers or firmware for the CD-ROM drive can sometimes cause unexpected behavior, including spinning the drive unnecessarily. Ensure that you have the latest drivers and firmware installed for your CD-ROM drive. You can visit the manufacturer's website to download and install the latest versions.

Hardware Issue: There is a possibility that there is a hardware issue with the CD-ROM drive itself. It could be a faulty drive or a loose connection. You can try reseating the cables connected to the drive or even replacing the drive with a different one to see if the spinning behavior persists.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be helpful to provide more information about your operating system, the CD-ROM drive model, and any specific software or processes running on your computer. With more details, I can provide further assistance in troubleshooting the issue.

Press Windows key + X on the keyboard.

    Click on Control panel.

Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Control panel search box.

Click on Troubleshooting and click on View all.

Click on Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions

Sometimes AV interferes. So disable that and check.
