Lost data on attached disk

Hi,

I had created a windows VM with an attached 1TB premium SSD disk. Unfortunately, the VM froze and I had to shut it down. When I started the machine back up the attached disk was gone. The disk is still attached to my VM but is unallocated. The only way for me to access it is to create a new volume and format it. This will erase all data on the disk. Is there a way to recover the data? Please advice.

TIA

    Hello @Jaspreet Hothi

Thank you for posting this concern on this community.

I fully understand your request and I would be asking few questions below:

-Did you enable Azure Backup on your VM?

-Do you have any recovery policy in place?

-Have you tried to review the event viewer logs to see what process failed and deleted your data?

-Have you tried to create a new VM but by attaching that disk stated on your post description?

Looking forward to hearing from you

    Cheers,
