Actually, the one we need in this case is the SQL Server errorlog. The error message means that SQL Server did not start when Setup wanted to run configuration tasks.
The errorlog is located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL16.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG. (Assuming you went with the defaults.) If you see a message about 256 misaligned reads, you are running into the message that Percy alluded to, and the article should help you to get SQL Server installed.

I will try to follow it, although is it the article written in Swedish? Because that's how it pops up on my side when I click on it, so I just want to make sure its the right one. No, the article is not written in Swedish. :--) I was not observant on Percy post. I took for granted that he linked to the article itself, but apparently he linked to an old thread.
I seem to recall that at some point I discovered that my bookmark was for se-sv rather than en-us. I can only tell you that I completely loathe being served auto-translated text in Swedish - the contents comes out of total rubbish.

I am sorry for not replying in time.
In fact, Microsoft's official documentation has a language to choose in the bottom left corner of the page.
The error information in the log file that you provide fits well with the symptoms in this troubleshooting.

I have never tried the steps myself. (Last year when I built a new computer, I carefully selected a disk drive that does produce this problem.) What I've noticed is that some people have said that they had set the sector size to 4095 rather than 4096 (which does not really make sense to me).
Do you still get the error about 256 misaligned reads? And is the date in the errorlog file current?
