How to physicaly changed the authenticator from 8 digits back to 6 with step by step directions.

Question

I never yhought in my life that my lifecould have gotten so drastically fucking demolished all becausebi cant access all my apps on my phone i lost all my clients , my job . And i cant access my damn bank amd im not even in the same state as my bank so i hve no way of even getting money right now to eat. All becuase of the authenticator app started giving 8 digit codes.every app asks for six. Why there is even an option for this to give 8 digits is beyond my undrrstanding bc it doesbt exist in a single app i ever had. I need a step by step instruction on how to change this back to 6 digits before it makes me put a god damn gun to my head.
