Hi , can you please explain . Have installed Windows 11 on many pcs with the i3 4130t processor ( 4th gen ) , without any issue , compatibility or otherwise . Health check says supported . Yet the i5 6200u ( 6th gen ) , a much later processor is not supported ?

What is known that You need a processor that must be in the 8th generation to run Windows 11.

Thanks , not just interesting but puzzling . Have windows 11 on Lenovo m93p , m92p , m900 , Dell micro 3020m , all with i3 4130t or i3 4160t , i3 6100t , i5 4570t , to name only a few pre 8th gen processors . No special install required , no messages indicating incompatibility , all updates completed . Just make sure TPM and secure boot are enabled and install .These are everywhere on Ebay , for example . However what is just as puzzling is how , given this , nobody in the community seems to be aware .

i5 6200U is not on the official list of Windows 11 supported processors. However, you can bypass CPU check by modifying the registry entries during the installation process.
Hi thanks . Yes i realise you can bypass the restrictions . However i was more confused by the fact it can be installed , without those measures , on older processors. Have installed 15-20 times without issue.
As far as I know, only 8th Gen or later i5 processors are officially supported. Don't know how it works as it seems a secret from MS.
Yes Thomas , that's what everyone says . It's a mystery . Tried on a i5 7200u 7th gen , and while it installed , it then came up with a message when i tried to do the updates , not compatible and would not update . No such issue with the other older processors.
