Sharepoint OnPremise 2019 and WebDAV stopped working with last Microsoft update

Hi there,

it seems that Microsoft has introduced a bug in a recent update that prevents users form accessing to their files through WebDAV stored on a Sharepoint OnPremise 2019 Server. The problem initially affected also the acces through the web. It was not possible to reopen a file that has been recently edited due to a lock. A todays update of Office 365 resolved the problem in web side. The issue still remains through WebDAV. So what are we waiting? A Windows update or an Office update?

That's the error thrown as eventid 300 under Microsoft Office 16 Alerts

Microsoft Word

Sorry, we couldn't open 'Z:\whatever\path\is\greatfile.docx'.

P1: 700468

P2: 16.0.16529.20182

P3: 90bhdP4: 0x80070002

Yesterday Microsoft threw an update for Office 365 (that was still not in the list of published updates, so no info about it). The update resolved the issue through web as stated. The build number is: v. 2306 build 16529.20182.

Any clues on how to patch this WebDAV mess before Microsoft?

Thank you

    Hi @Pablo Alcover ,

Try to install the latest update for SharePoint Server 2019 to check whether the problem is solved. If not, you can only wait for the next Office update or SP update.

    More detailed update steps:https://blogit.create.pt/miguelisidoro/2019/05/02/how-to-speed-up-the-installation-of-sharepoint-cumulative-updates-using-powershell-step-by-step/

To finish the farm update process, you must ensure that after the updates are properly installed, you execute the SharePoint Products and Configuration Wizard .

    Hello,

that's what I thought. Just wanted to get some feedback from others having the same issue. After updating another environment and being hitted by the bug I'm pretty sure that we will have to wait Microsoft to get a patch for WebDAV to work properly again.

The workaround is to downgrade Office to a version lower than 2306 build 16529.20__154.__

    Best regards,

The title is not correct. Is not Sharepoints WebDAV that stopped working but MS Office.

Before accepting the answer we should first agree that this is a bug and not a planned loss of MS Office functionality. I cannot find much info. about this subject. It's like there were not many actively using MS Sharepoint WebDAV and that seems strange to me.
