Hi,

We are thinking using four windows standard servers for clustering (two for load balancing and two for mirroring), and I am wonder what is the maximum number of windows standard servers I can use for clustering.

Thank you!

    Hi,

Are you using Windows Failover Cluster or Network Load Balancing? Windows Failover Cluster supports up to 64 nodes in a single cluster while Network Load Balancing supports up to 32 nodes.

You can check the prerequisites listed here.

    Hey,

As mentioned, you can use either NLB or Failover Clustering on these servers. It depends on your needs. Check requirements for NLB: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/networking/technologies/network-load-balancing

Requirements for failover clustering are mentioned above. In addition, if you want to mirror your storage between the hosts, you can use StarWind VSAN. It can be used as a shared storage for Failover Cluster, which can be created on top of these nodes. https://www.starwindsoftware.com/starwind-virtual-san
