My volume and brightness keys aren't controlling my volume and brightness. I know it has something to do with my fn key, because when I hold my fn key and press the volume or brightness, they do what they are supposed to do. How do I turn off the fn lock? I looked it up and tried holding down esc and fn, caps lock and fn and alt and fn but none of them worked. What do I do?

    On my Dell Laptop E6420

    THE solution is:

Fn + F2 - This toggles the FUNCTION On or Off.

My F2 key has a small LOCK ICON and in the same color as the Fn key.

    Do you check BIOS/UEFI configuration?

Restart your computer and access the BIOS or UEFI settings by pressing a specific key during startup (e.g., F2, Del, or Esc). Navigate to the Keyboard or Function Key Behavior section and look for an option to change the Fn lock behaviour. The specific option and location may vary depending on your computer's manufacturer and BIOS/UEFI version.

    Hello

You can turn off the fn lock by following these steps:

    1. Press the Windows key + X and select Device Manager from the menu.
    2. Expand the Keyboards category and right-click on your keyboard device. Select Update driver from the context menu.
    3. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the on-screen instructions.
    4. Restart your computer and check if the fn lock is off.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian
