Networking remote storage access

My home private network allows me to view shared resources in one direction only. I can view the shared folders on my Windows 10 Pro tablet (device hardware doesn't support Windows 11) from my Windows 11 Pro laptop but when I try to view shared resources on my laptop from my tablet I am prompted to sign in with my Windows credentials. However, the connection fails with a message that the credentials are incorrect. Up until about three months ago, I had no issues. Would my log in credentials not be the same for each device? I use the same credentials on each device. I have tried using several user id's and password combinations that I have used in the past but nothing works. I have external storage connected to my laptop that I used to be able to perform Macrium Reflect backups to, from my tablet. Now I have to connect a separate external storage device to the tablet in order to perform the backups. Then I have to connect that storage to my laptop in order to keep all backups in one location. What could have changed that my credentials only work on one device?

    Hello David @ David Lambert

Following are few possible solutions you can try :

    1.       Reset network settings: you can go to Start menu > Settings > Network and Internet > Status > Network Reset. Make sure two PCs are connecting to the same subnet. And they can ping each other successfully.

    2.       Check the account permissions: Ensure that the user account you are using to access the shared folder on tablet has the necessary permissions.

    3.       Temporarily disable the firewall on both the Windows 10 Pro tablet and Windows 11 Pro laptop to check if the firewall settings are blocking the access.

    4.       Also make sure both PC are running the latest updates , restart both.
