Authenticator verification code not working when changing password

I needed to reset the password, but when I got to this screen, and since I forgot my password, I ended up on a page that asks me to verify using the code from authenticator app.

But when I enter the code from my authenticator app, I get rejected with the following screen.

  1. Should I be getting 8-digit code from authenticator?
  2. Why are the code from a working authenticator rejected?

    Might check that the authentication device time is sync'd to a reliable source.
