My SSD enclosure only works in USB 2.0, but I plug it into USB 3.0

(I am Chinese, so my English may not be very good.)

A few months ago, I bought an SSD enclosure, which is a device that can convert my SSD hard drive into an external hard drive. I'm sure that it worked well when I just brought it.

But a few weeks later, when I wanted to backup some files, I found that my SSD enclosure only works in USB 2.0 mode, and the speed is very slow. I tried different USB 3.0 ports, however, the result is the same.User's image

My SSD enclosure is connected to the generic USB hub(通用USB集线器), instead of the USB 3.0 Root Hub just like my Udisk that works normally on USB3.0 :User's image

I also tried everything on Google, but none of them worked.

Besides, my SSD enclosure occasionally works on USB 3.0, but once I copy some files, it disconnects with a “hardware IO error”, and then works on USB 2.0 again.

    Hello

It sounds like you’re having trouble with your SSD enclosure. There could be a few reasons why your SSD enclosure is only working in USB 2.0 mode and disconnecting with a “hardware IO error” when you try to use it in USB 3.0 mode.

One possibility is that there could be an issue with the cable or connection. You could try reseating the cables connecting your external drive to your computer, or using a different USB cable1. Another possibility is that there could be a glitch with your hard drive or SSD, or a misconfigured driver.

If you continue to have trouble, you might want to consider seeking help from a professional or the manufacturer of your SSD enclosure.

Just now, the SSD enclosure could operate in USB 3.0 mode again, and I noticed that it depended on how the enclosure was detected. If it was a "USB attached SCSI mass storage device", then it could function in USB 3.0 mode. If it was a "USB mass storage device", it was restricted to USB 2.0 mode. Do you have any clue about this?
