Unable to activate Windows Server 2019

I have a new install of Windows Server 2019 that will not allow me to activate windows. I also cannot open any of the UI tools for activation or entering the product key but I get no error message.

The error code I get is 0x80072F8F or sometimes 0x87E10BC6

Things I have tried:

DISM and sfc check to ensure the image is not corrupted

slui.exe 3

  • slmgr.vbs /ipk and /ato

    Sounds like the installation is badly broken. These one-offs are not worth spending any time on. I'd suggest clean installing it again, patch fully and try again.

    Hi.

    Error code 0x80072F8F can occur when the date and time settings on your computer are incorrect or out of sync with the activation server. You can do this by following these steps:

    1. Open the Control Panel and click on "Date and Time".
    2. Click on the "Internet Time" tab and then click on "Change settings".
    3. Check the box next to "Synchronize with an Internet time server" and select a server from the drop-down menu.
    4. Click on "Update now" and then click on "OK".

    After syncing the time and date settings, try activating Windows Server 2019 again using the slmgr.vbs /ato command.
