Office365 now requires Microsoft Authenticator but I do not have smart phone

I cannot access my emails under office 365 because it now requires me to download a microsoft authenticator app which is not possible as I do not own a smart phone.
Is it possible to borrow a friends phone to download app, and then when I can access emails using their token, I can disable multifactor authentication and in future be able to access emails using previous password only.
