Let me confirm two things about SMB.

・On the Windows 11 terminal that creates the shared folder,

If you enable the "SMB 1.0/CIFS file sharing support" feature in "Turn Windows features on or off",

Will the shared folder's SMB protocol version be 1.0?

・In a shared folder whose SMB protocol version is 1.0,

Is it correct to assume that clients with SMB protocol version 2.0 or higher cannot access?

    Hi @Terada, Hirotaka/寺田 弘隆

    • If you enable the "SMB 1.0/CIFS file sharing support" feature in "Turn Windows features on or off", the shared folder's SMB protocol version will be 1.0.
    • In a shared folder whose SMB protocol version is 1.0, clients with SMB protocol version 2.0 or higher cannot access. However, it is important to note that SMB 1.0 is an outdated protocol and is not recommended for use due to security vulnerabilities. It is recommended to use SMB 2.0 or higher for better security and performance.

    Hope the information is helpful.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian

The thing is Microsoft didn't update patches or new versions for some applications which is using SMB 1.0. Or does anyone know how to "upgrade" or patch Microsoft Accounting 2009 pro SP3 using SMB 2.0 or other more secure file sharing protocol?
