I have a similar problem. I use the monitor dock network through the USB-C cable, but seldomly keep the video monitor connected to another computer via HDMI. Every time the other computer turns off the signal, the W11 computer ignores the "use this screen 1 only" setting and stubbornly links to the sinal I expressly told it to ignore and extends the screen. This is really a very bad behaviour and I simply cannot find how to turn it off.
How to disable monitor auto detection in windows 11?
I think the need for the feature that I'm looking for is very valid and logical. Monitor auto-detection is mostly a great feature that makes life for those regularly using multiple monitors easier. However, it really causes severe inconvenience for many. The problem is there are various situations when the second monitor loses connection with the PC but still I want my windows to stay where they are. I know this is not usually the desired behavior but for many it is. So Microsoft (and possibly hardware manufacturers) should really consider the need for those "many" and make a simple way to toggle this feature on or off. Thank you.
