So for the past couple of months, we began distributing Dell Precision laptops to folks with 64bit Office 2016. For the prior years, users have been using 32bit Office 2016. For the users with 64bit Office 2016, many of them have been having issues when saving to a network location. The app will crash during the save and in the event log, this will appear:

Faulting application name: EXCEL.EXE, version: 16.0.5400.1000, time stamp: 0x64664434

Users with 32bit Office can save the same file WITHOUT crashing.

Troubleshooting so far: I've done a full restart, made sure the network location was a "Trusted Location", ran SFC /scannow, ran DISM scan and restore, tried upgrading individual users to Windows 11 Enterprise from Windows 10 LTSC 21H2, ran Office Repair, and a clean uninstall and reinstall of Office. The reinstall normally seems to fix the issue for a week or so, but then the issue returns. I know one of the recent Microsoft Update KBs mentioned an issue about 32bit Office crashing when saving to a network location, but that was allegedly resolved with patch KB5002405, which I downloaded and installed but did not correct the issue with our PCs. Saving the file locally to the desktop, then dragging it to the network folder seems to be a workaround for now, but is not a sustainable solution for many of these people. I've been searching far and wide on the web for answer/solution, but nothing that I've seen around these forums has worked yet.

What is interesting is that the Event Log version of Excel shows 16.0.5400.1000, but in the File --> Account --> About Excel window, it shows the version as being 16.0.4266.1001. On systems where Excel is working, the versions info from the Event Log matches what is in About Excel. What could cause a system to only partially update Excel?

Specs:

Dell Precision 3571 and Precision 3580.

12th Gen Intel Core i5-12600H

Windows 10 LTSC 21H2

Office 2016 16.0.4266.1001

16GB RAM

Please help! And thanks in advance!
