AADSTS50011 with Remote Desktop client for MacOS

Connecting to Azure AD joined Azure VM using AAD credentials.

We're seeing the following error on at least the latest version of the Remote Desktop client for Mac from Apple's App Store (v10.8.4 running on macOS 13.4.1(a)):

AADSTS50011: The redirect URI 'msauth://com.microsoft.rdc.macos' specified in the request does not match the redirect URIs configured for the application '5177bc73-fd99-4c77-a90c-76844c9b6999'. Make sure the redirect URI sent in the request matches one added to your application in the Azure portal. Navigate to https://aka.ms/redirectUriMismatchError to learn more about how to fix this.

Thanks for your reply.

I've spend couple of hours figuring out how to resolve this but to no avail.

I added the IP/VM-name to my host file.

I'm running the latest version 10.8.4 on the latest Mac OS version 13.4.1.

Azure AD credentials are correct and I have the Virtual Machine Administrator Login permissions assigned. There are no firewalls blocking the issue.

I'm able to connect using AAD account via WIndows mstsc.

I'm having trouble finding older versions of the MacOS RDP client, but I also don't like to downgrade.

I've been receiving the same for around a month now. Macbook running Ventura 13.5 currently, but I believe Monterey previously. Remote desktop version 10.8.4 . It successfully starts the AVD with a login, comes up with a second login which fails with this error. My workaround has been to cancel the second login and launch again, but that's such a pain and too involved a login process.

Hi @XchangeVisions , what troubleshooting have you done so far? Can you please try the following and let me know if it works:

Ensure your macOS and Remote Desktop client are up-to-date.

Verify that your Azure AD credentials are correct and have the necessary permissions to access the VM.

Check your network settings and ensure there are no firewalls or proxies blocking the connection.

Also, try downgrading from the latest version of the Remote Desktop client for Mac and see if that changes anything. Please let me know the results and I can help you further.
